Place short, unstressed words naturally in a Serbian sentence.
Short forms such as sam, si, je, su, ću, bi, se, ga, je, mu, mi are clitics: they cannot carry stress. In a neutral statement, put their block after the first stressed word or phrase, not automatically after the first written word.
After Da li, learn common short-form sequences as blocks. sam, si, smo, ste, su, ću normally come before other short pronouns: Ja sam ga video. Third-person singular je follows them: On mi ga je dao. Negative forms such as nisam and neću are full words, not separate short auxiliaries.
